Revelations

As I was in prayer and meditation last night, I felt God place this thought/insight on my heart to write down and share with the group: For us believers/followers, no matter what happens during each day of our lifetime, whether it be storm or sun, if it be battle, loss, or victory, it is always a day closer to facing our God and, hopefully, a day in knowing more about Him.

Revelations

Hi everyone,

I hope you have had a blessed Monday. I had a great day, and I know it was truly a gift from the Lord. You see I started a new job today (same company, different division) and I was quite anxious about it - but things just fell into place perfectly. I met some very nice people, and my two new managers seem great as well. One is a Christian and is very interested in hearing about my experiences in Niger. I can already feel God's hand on my life, gently guiding me and showing me areas in my life that I still need to work on. One is patience.
I'm also reminded that each day is a gift and if we surrender our schedule to God, he can do amazing things (more than anything we could have planned for ourselves). I am looking forward to 20 more days of revelations like these.

Let's praise the Lord for this opportunity to encourage each other and grow in our faith together!

Good Scripture and Resource for inspiration

So, sometimes I have a hard time using resources and making it my own. However, I was inspired today by Praying God's Word by Beth Moore. If you get it, i highly encourage you to read the introduction before beginnin on of the chapters. If you are fasting for someone (or yourself) to overcome strongholds and aren't exactly sure where to begin this is a good place to start.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (New International Version)

3For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Protein during the Daniel Fast

A couple of people have mentioned that they are concerned about getting enough protein during the fast. That shouldn't be a problem because God has provide us with numerous ways to get protein. Chowing down on a big piece of meat isn't the only way to get it.

Here are a few examples of plant protein that you could try:

PROTEIN IN LEGUMES: Garbanzo beans, Kidney beans, Lentils, Lima beans, Navy beans, Soybeans, Split peas

PROTEIN IN GRAINS: Barley, Brown rice, Buckwheat, Millet, Oatmeal, Rye, Wheat germ, Wheat, hard red, Wild rice

VEGETABLE PROTEIN: Artichokes, Beets, Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Cucumbers, Eggplant, Green peas, Green pepper, Kale, Lettuce, Mushrooms, Mustard green, Onions, Potatoes, Spinach, Tomatoes, Turnip greens, Watercress, Yams, Zucchini

PROTEIN IN FRUITS: Apple, Banana, Cantaloupe, Grape, Grapefruit, Honeydew melon, Orange, Papaya, Peach, Pear, Pineapple, Strawberry, Tangerine, Watermelon

PROTEIN IN NUTS AND SEEDS: Almonds, Cashews, Filberts, Hemp Seeds, Peanuts, Pumpkin seeds, Sesame seeds, Sunflower seeds, Walnuts (black)
